WINTER TESTING: ALBERTO CERQUI HAPPY WITH THE FIRST MONTHS AS OFFICIAL BMW DRIVER

30/03/2011 - After a long winter devoted to preparation work, Alberto Cerqui is getting closer to his debut in the Superstars Series to occur in the season opener in Monza next 10 April. ROAL Motorsport decided to bet on the 18 years old from Brescia, to the reigning champion Thomas Biagi and the experienced Stefano Gabellini, giving to the young driver an opportunity awarding the talent emerged in karting and that everyone hopes to be the prelude to a career in touring cars racing full of success.

During winter testing, the team led by Roberto Ravaglia involved Cerqui in several development tests on track to help him familiarizing with the official M3 BMW and now, as the first race is getting closer, the await is mounting to compare Cerqui's potential to his rivals'. What is certainly promising is the best time set in the first day of the recent collective tests held in Vallelunga.

Alberto Cerqui:
"I learned a lot with the work done recently both on track and out of it. The organization and professionalism of an official team are something unbelievable and despite the high objectives for the season there is no pressure on me thanks also to a strong team spirit that keeps all of us focused on developing the car. Here is where the huge experience of Roberto Ravaglia plays a crucial role but I also found in Biagi and Gabellini two great team-mates that helped me since the beginning with their precious advices.
Just two weeks are left now to the season opener: we are happy with the performance shown during winter tests and the fastest time in Vallelunga but we are aware we will have to wait until Monza to see the real values on the field".
